Death of General Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) President of the United States from 1829 to 1837. Jackson was the seventh President of the United States. Nominated for President in 1828 Jackson won a decisive victory against John Quincy Adams in an election so negative that his wife Rachel Jackson died of a stroke late in the campaign due to attacks against her.
