Female infibulation, is considered Type III female genital mutilation by the World Health Organization. It is mostly practiced in northeastern Africa, particularly Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan. Although female genital mutilation has been outlawed or restricted in most of the countries in which it occurs, but the laws are poorly enforced.
