'Bowyer House', (c1878). The 'Old Bowyer Manor House' in the village of Camberwell, (now part of south London). The land was purchased in 1583 by Edmund Bowyer, and the house was built during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. 'The house was pulled down in 1861, on its being purchased by the London, Chatham, and Dover Railway Company.' From Old and New London: A Narrative of Its History, Its People, And Its Places.
