Elderly Man with Cardiac Event Recorder

Elderly man wearing a Cardiac Event Recorder. This device, connected to the patient's body with disposable electrodes, records ECG rhythms suggestive of a cardiac arrhythmia (palpitations and slow, fast, or skipped heartbeat). If a cardiac event occurs, the patient starts the recorder by briefly pushing a button marked with a telephone. Up to six events may be recorded in a sequence; they are then transmitted via telephone to the issuing cardiological laboratory for evaluation.
