The Lord Mayor Sir Frederick Hoare will open the new Avondale Square housing estate on the Old Kent Road on Friday. The estate comprises of 380 flats to house 853 people. There are three 185 foot high 20 story blocks, two tennis courts a toddlers play the paved playground and six shops. 23 October 1962.
