Washing Days For Poets' Corner Of Anbey -- The bust of Longfellow, one of the many of famous poets, now being cleaned at Westminster Abbey. That famous corner of Westminster Abbey trancept where Chaucer, Tennyson, Browning and other famous English poets are buried is "Closed for repairs". It is now covered with scaffolding in order that the ancient vault and walls, which are within a few years of their seven hundredth birthday, may be cleaned and the real beauty revealed. All the stone is being carefully brushed and washed and it is probable that a coating of limewash will be applied as a final touch. January 2, 1935. (Photo by Fox).
