Triple ace Brig. Gen. David Lee 'Tex' Hill served as leader of the American Volunteer Groups 2nd Squadron and commanded the Army Air Corps 75th Fighter Squadron and the 23rd Fighter Group. He was also the Texas Air National Guards first commander.
