Casket from the Cathedral of Palencia. 1049-1050. The decorative inscription in Kufic script indicates that it was made in Cuenca (Spain), in 441 after Hijra (1049-1050 AD), by Abd al-Rahman ben Zayyan. It was commissioned for Ismail ben al Maamun, son of the king of Toledo Yahya al Maamun (1044-1075). Rectangular in shape with a tomb lid, leather-covered wood and covered with openwork ivory plaques and enameled copper edges. Depth: 23 cm, length: 34.50 cm and height: 22.50 cm. It was reused as a reliquary in the cathedral of Palencia (Spain). National Archaeological Museum. Madrid. Spain.
