Title: Design for an Altar
Caption: The sepulchrum in the shape of a sarcophagus, marked with "C", stands in the hollow "B" of the mensa. Beside are panels with a prelate's escutcheons; the left one is marked "B". The dividing console is twice marked "A". In the center of the altar furniture is the tabernacle, with the crucifix standing upon it. Beside it, at right, alternate three statuettes of saints with three candelabra. The mouldings of the furniture are marked at left from the bottom to the top: "A B C A D A". Pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash, graphite on lined off-white laid paper. Date: 1746-1809.
