"Asiento Treaty" (26 March 1713). The Treaty of Utrecht ratified the "Asiento de negros", by which the South Sea Company gained the right to send Negro slaves to the Spanish colonies in the Americas for a period of thirty years. Article XVIII. From 1 May 1713, the French company "Compagnie royale de Guinée", was no longer allowed to import any black slaves into the Indies.
