Italy. Rome. Sant'Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso, usually known as San Carlo al Corso. Its construction was begun in honour of the canonization of St. Charles Borromeo in 1610, by Onorio Longhi (1568-1619) and, after his death, by his son Martino Longhi the Younger (1602-1680). The dome was designed by Pietro da Cortona (1597-1669) in 1668. First, an statue of Saint Ambrose (340-397), archbishop of Milan.
