Caption: Portable Shower Bath, 1880. Gaston Bozerian invented a collapsible shower bath that could be stored compactly in the round, flat tub. The water was pumped by hand; a reservoir fitted at the top allowed the user to enjoy a brief shower bath after a short period of pumping. The perforated ring could be set at various heights to accommodate both adults and children.
