Fossilized Shark Tooth

Fossilized shark tooth from the Hawthorne Formation of South Carolina. The fossil was found in either Charleston, Colleton or Beaufort County, South Carolina. The fossil dates from the Miocene/Pliocene Age, between 5 and 15 million years ago, and could be from either a Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) or the extinct Carcharocles megalodon.
