Carlotta Walls LaNier was the youngest of the nine African-American students ever to attend classes at Little Rock Central High School in September 1957. In 1954 the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled that racial segregation of public schools was unconstitutional. The report consists of a pre-printed form on a folded card. The form has been filled out in a combination of handwritten blue ink, handwritten graphite, and stamped black ink. The front of the card reads [ REPORT / of / Pupil's Progress ].
