King Ferdinand and Crown Prince Carol of Romania during World War I, 1915. Ferdinand (1865 – 1927), was King of Romania from 1914 until his death. Carol II (1893 – 1953) reigned as King of Romania from 1930 until his abdication in September 1940. He was the eldest son of Ferdinand I and became crown prince upon the death of his grand-uncle, King Carol I in 1914.
