Mildred Ella "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias (1911-1956) was an American athlete who achieved outstanding success in golf, basketball, and track and field. She won two gold medals and one silver medal for track and field in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. She is shown here after setting the world's record in the javelin throw.
