Lucius Elio Aurelio COMMODO (31 August 161 - 31 December 192) Roman emperor from 180 with the name of Cesare Lucio Marcus Aurelius Commodus Antoninus Augustus, member of the Antonini dynasty. Having passed into history with the reputation of an extravagant, cruel and depraved person, he promoted a policy of religious tolerance, interrupting the persecution of Christians; he gave new impetus to the arts and built commemorative monuments of his father Marcus Aurelius. "Aurelius Commodus Aug Germ Sar Sar Affr", decoration in bas-relief from the band depicting famous characters of antiquity and mythological themes, inspired by the medals of the Roman era, carved on the base of the facade of the Basilica of the Certosa di Pavia, a typical example of Lombard Renaissance architecture of the fifteenth century.
