Trentepohlia sp. Algae, LM

Light micrograph of green algae in the genus Trentepohlia. This filamentous chlorophyte algae lives on terrestrial supports such as tree trunks and wet rocks. The strong orange color of the filaments, which masks the green of the chlorophyll, is caused by the presence of large quantities of carotenoid pigments. Magnification: 60 x at 35mm.
