Born in 1941, Bou Meng is one of 14 survivors of S-21, the Khmer Rouge prison in Phnom Penh (19751979), Cambodia, where more than 16,000 people were tortured and then sent to be killed. He survived because of his skill at portraiture and was forced to paint images of the Khmer Rouge leaders.
