Shield Burgundian shield with the coat of arms of the city of Cologne, oblong spherical shield with rounded top edge, tapered down to a truncated point above which two holes. The unpainted interior has four fixing points for leather belts, in the middle a diamond pattern of tacks, probably to attach a leather cushion. The front is painted with black leaf vines and flowers on a red background, framed by a yellow-black border. In the middle a weapon with three crowns (Cologne). At the bottom and in the Cologne coat of arms parts of the underlying layer of paint are exposed, coat of arms (as symbol of the state, etc.) (city, municipal), Cologne, Charles the Bold (Duke of Burgundy), Ruprecht von der Pfalz (1427-1480), anonymous, Nederlanden (possibly), 1474 - 1475, wood (plant material), oil paint (paint), h 108.5 cm × w 48.0 cm × d 18.5 cm.
