Cartoon depicting the effects of coal burning on London. 'Old King Coal' is shown using a typical kitchen range as an armchair, while the spectre of Fog hangs over the city suffering from its suffocating fumes. Illustrated by John Tenniel (1820-1914) an English illustrator graphic humourist, and political cartoonist. He was knighted for his artistic achievements in 1893. Dated 19th century.
