Arthur Ernest Halliday, native of New South Wales, 35. 5ft. 71/2in., slight build, brown hair, hazel eyes, fair complexion, scar inside left shin. Left little finger missing to second joint. Is wearing long trousers, grey or dark, a blue striped shirt, and an old felt hat. He is a notorious house-breaker, and in 1939 was sentenced to five years' gaol for a series of robberies. In January, 1940, he escaped from the Brisbane Prison at the same spot, and by the same means as he did yesterday, and was free for two weeks. He received mine months' gaol for having escaped, and sentences on stealing charges brought his total additional sentences to three years. He had been working on cementing work in the gaol.
