The Cathedrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Lyon was built over the course of several centuries, from about 1165 to 1480. The apse and choir is Romanesque, while the nave and facade are Gothic. The Saint-Jean and the Croix-Rousse areas in the city of Lyon were designated  UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1998, for their historical and architectural landmarks.
