The Tichborne (Flour) Dole - Sir Anthony Doughty Tichborne, fourteenth baronet, doling out flour to one of the 989 tenants entitled to receive it under terms of the legendary Tichborne Dole in the annual ceremony outside the Tichborne Manor, home of the Tichborne Family, when each man received one gallon, and women and children half-a-gallon of flour from a large container at the ancient custom, traditionally give to the 'poorest' villagers by present-day head of the Tichborne family - whose ancestor, the first Lady Tichborne, instituted the gift centuries age.
