Gillender Building, New York City, c. 1900. Completed in 1897, the Gillender Building was an early 20-story, 273-foot-tall (83 m) skyscraper in the Financial District of Manhattan in New York City. It stood on the northwest corner of Wall Street and Nassau Street. It was designed by Charles I. Berg and Edward H. Clark. Upon completion, it was praised as an engineering novelty, and was quoted by some as "one of the wonders of the city." It was demolished in 1910.
