Frill necked Lizard

Frill necked Lizard, (Chlamydosaurus kingii). This large dragon lizard, or agamid, occurs over tropical Australian in open forests and dry woodlands and savannah country. It grows to a total length of around 80cms. It feeds on insects, spiders and smaller lizards. Its frill is erected as an aggressive/defensive display and also for heat dispersion. Largely arboreal in habit, it does forage on the ground, taking to the nearest tree if alarmed.
