Seaham Harbour, County Durham, England. Loading a sailing vessel with coal. The railway wagons were unloaded into the top of the 'spout' on the staithe or wharf. The bottom of the spout was positioned over the hold of the ship. Seaham Harbour and New Town were founded in 1828 to export coal from the east of the Durham Coalfield.
