Mr. Payn, a principal in "Magic Carpet" at the Prince's Theatre, London, joined the Territorials in April 1939, and was discharged from the London Irish Rifles owing to ill-health in 1940. Born in South Africa, he made a reputation as a boy soprano throughout that country in 1930. Miss Ascoli has been in the W.R.E.N. for 2½ years. She is the daughter of the late George Ascoli and Mrs. Carroll-Marx. September 06, 1943.
