Fram, Arctic Expedition,1895

Fram was a schooner used in expeditions of the Arctic and Antarctic regions by the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, Oscar Wisting, and Roald Amundsen (1893 and 1912).  Fridtjof Wedel-Jarlsberg Nansen (October 10,1861 - May 13, 1930) was a Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, and humanitarian. He won international fame after reaching a record northern latitude of 86°14' during his North Pole expedition of 1893-96. His techniques of polar travel and his innovations in equipment and clothing influenced a generation of Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. No photographer credited, 1895 (cropped and cleaned).
