Fossil Cone Shells

Fossil cone shells (Conus scabriculus), about 120 mm long. Conus shells are found worldwide, from the Upper Cretaceous to today. These shells are ornamented with ridges, lines and nodes, and they taper to a point at both ends. Modern cone shells live in warm, shallow seas, much as their fossilized relatives did.
