He was of the Pyeonggang Chae Clan (????, ????); his courtesy name (?, ?) was Baekgyu (??, ??); his pen name (?, ?) was Beon’am (??, ??); and his posthumous name (?, ?) was Munsuk (??, ??). He passed the regional civil examination (??, ??) at the age of 15, and held high government offices throughout his life.
