Sir John Everett Millais, 1st Baronet (June 8, 1829 - August 13, 1896) was a British painter and illustrator who was one of founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Millais was born in Southampton of a prominent Jersey-based family. His prodigious artistic talent won him a place at the Royal Academy schools at the unprecedented age of eleven.
