Early Israeli aircraft during the War of Independence. The Palavir was the air force for the Palmas the Jewish Underground army in Palestine during the British Mandate. The Palavir disguised itself as an aero club called Palestine Flying Club and continued to train until 1947. The Palavir were reorganized into the Sherut Avir which became the Hel Ha'avir or Israeli Air Force. The 'Palavir' acquired its first aircraft, in 1936.
