A Treaty of Alliance and Mutual Assistance between Briatin and Soviet Russia was signed at the Foreign Office on May 26th by M. Molotov on behalf of the Soviet Union and Mr. Eden. Unknown to all but a few persons the Soviet Commissar for Foreign Affaires, who arrived in the U.K. on May 20 by a Soviet 4-engined bomber, spent six days in Briatin and was received by the King.
