Selected Prints from Edward Hasted's, The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent, vols. 1-3. Artist: After Eleanora Johnson (British, active 1779-99); Drawn and etched by John Bayly (British, active 1755-1782); After Thomas Sandby (British, baptized Nottingham 1723-1798 Windsor); Drawn and etched by Richard Bernard Godfrey (British, probably London ca. 1728-1795 after); After Sir Roger Twisden (British, active 1779-99); After Rev. Joseph Milner (British, active 1779-99). Dimensions: Overall: 17 5/16 × 11 × 13/16 in. (44 × 28 × 2 cm) Sheet: 16 15/16 × 10 5/8 in. (43 × 27 cm). Etcher: William Watts (British, London 1752-1851 Cobham, Surrey); Thomas Milton (British, 1743-1827 Bristol). Date: 1777-90. A group of thirty etchings, lacking title page, bound in decorated paper boards, with the front cover detached. The plates were made to illustrate a four volume work by Edward Hasted (1732-1812), "The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent: containing the ancient and present State of it, Civil and Ecclesiastical; collected from public Records, and other the Authorities, both Manuscript and printed; and illustrated with Maps and Views of Antiquities, Seats of the Nobility and Gentry, in four Volumes printed for the author by Simmons and Kirkby, 1778-99. Those assembled here come from vols. 1, 2 and 3. In total, the four volumes contain about 170 prints, including maps.
