Abu Jaafar Abdullah al-Ma'mun ibn Harun (also spelled Almamon, Al-Maymun and el-Mamoon) (September 13, 786 August 9, 833) was an Abbasid caliph who reigned from 813 until his death in 833. Illumination from the khamse (quintet) of the Ottoman Turkish poet and scholar (d. 1044 AH / 1634 CE).
