Granada; Colorado; The World War II Amache Japanese internment camp in southeast Colorado became part of the National Park Service; as President Joe Biden signed a law making Amache a National Historic Site on March 18; 2022. More than 7; 000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were held at the site; one of 10 internment camps in the American west. Though all the buildings were demolished after the war; many foundations remain. A barracks has been reconstructed.
