PROFESSOR TALKS OF BANNED LECTURE TOUR Professor Cecil Frank Powell, Nobel Prize winner and head of the physics department of Bristol University, who was to have sailed for Germany today (Tuesday), instead held a Press conference at his Clifton, Bristol, home. He was to have lectured in six German universities on cosmic radiation and atomic physics, but last night the Foreign Office, who invited him to make the tour, withdrew the invitation. The Foreign Office explained today that this step was taken to avoid any appearance of political complexion, but Professor Powell, who said it was due to his association with the British Peace movement, described it as ridiculous.
