La Translation de la Sainte Maison par les anges, between 1828 and 1837. The Translation of the Holy House by angels. Sketch for the dome fresco of the Notre-Dame de Lorette church in Paris. The Virgin Mary sits on clouds, accompanied by the four theological virtues of Justice, Faith, Charity and Hope. Above are putti holding a scroll on which is written gloria in altissimis deo. Below, the holy house stands out against an azure blue sky. Some Catholics believe this to be the house in which the Virgin Mary lived. Legends claim the same house was flown over by angelic beings from Nazareth to Tersatto (Trsat in Croatia), then to Recanati, before arriving in Italy.
