A glyptodont of the genus Doedicurus from 25,000 years ago is compared to modern armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus). Doedicurus is five feet tall, weighs about 2,200 pounds, while the armadillos (in this image nine-banded armadillos) are about 20 inches long and each weighing about ten pounds. Values are estimates only based upon available paleontological data.
