SHAKESPEARE, WILLIAM

Orig. bildtext... PLAN TO OPEN SHAKESPEARE'S TOMB A group of people who want to open up the tomb of William Shakespeare (1564-1616) in Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-on-Avon, have roused widespread opposition in the town. The group, called The Shakespeare Action Committee, believe that there may be documents which would help solve the mystery thast still surrounds the life of Shakespeare. One theory is that Francis Bacon wrote the plays and poems ascribed to Shakespeare, who was simply an actor. Other points which have never been explained include the identity of a Mr. W. H. mentioned in revealing poetry. Opposition to the opening of his tomb is mounting principally because there is little chance of documents surviving unless the atmosphere in the tomb is dry. This picture is of a portrait of Shakespeare in the possession of the Duke of Buckingham. There are many portraits of Shakespeare and they all help to create a mystery about him. 17 Sep. 1962 Anm. Blicken Skägg Örhängen CD329 persons: WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE* sites: STORBRITANNIEN.
