Astronomical chart showing the twins Castor and Pollux forming the constellation. Gemini is one of the constellations of the zodiac. It was one of the 48 constellations described by the 2nd century AD astronomer Ptolemy and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations defined by the International Astronomical Union. Its name is Latin for twins, and it is associated with the twins Castor and Pollux in Greek mythology. Gemini lies between Taurus to the west and Cancer to the east, with Auriga and Lynx to the north and Monoceros and Canis Minor to the south. Gemini the third astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Gemini. It spans the 60-90th degree of the Tropical zodiac, which the Sun transits this area of the zodiac from May 20 to June 21 each year. Urania's Mirror is a boxed set of 32 constellation cards first published by Samuel Leigh of the Strand, London, in or shortly before 1825. An unidentified lady, referred to by her nom-de-plume, Jehoshaphat Aspin, designed these whimsical astronomy cards. The engraver was Sidney Hall.
