Earhart deep sea diving off Block Island. Amelia Earhart (1897 - disappeared 1937) was an American aviation pioneer and author. She was the first woman aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set many other records and wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences. She was a member of the NWP and an early supporter of the ERA.
