Liquids of Different Densities

In this demonstration, a LEGO brick sinks in fresh water (left) but floats in sugar water (right). LEGO bricks are made of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic, which has a density of 1050 kg/m3. The density of fresh water is 997 kg/m3. Adding sugar increases the density of the water, making it higher than the LEGO's.
