Panacea, daughter of the Greek god of medicine Asclepius, examining a urine flask while surrounded by medical paraphernalia. Engraving by Philippe Galle (1537-1612). In the background are two scenes which symbolize two subjects complementary to medicine. The first is surgery, represented as an anatomical dissection, and the second is pharmacy, represented by physician presenting a pharmacist with a recipe outside his shop.
