Mosasaur swimming in the Meuse River.

Mosasaur swimming in the Meuse River. The first Mosasaur found and named discovered near the Meuse River and city of Maastricht of the Netherlands.. Among the largest, if not the largest, of the Mosasaurus original estimates ranged as long as 58 feet, but by 2014 better methods were discovered giving a large specimen a length of about 45 feet. Mosasaurs in general are not dinosaurs but literally lizards adapted to an aquatic environment. It is believed they are related to modern monitor lizards such as the Nile Monitor and Komodo Dragon.
