Marie Curie with US President Warren G. Harding. At this event, one gram of radium was presented to the Curie Institute. The discoverer of radium, Marie Curie (1867-1934), was a Polish-French chemist and physicist. She was the first person to receive two Nobel Prizes (chemistry and physics) and also the first to be awarded these prizes in two different fields.
