Kerion from ringworm (Tinea tonsurans et Kerion confertum). A kerion is an abscess caused by fungal infection. It most often occurs on the scalp (tinea capitis). This image shows a young male infected by a fungus referred to as ringworm. It has caused scalp lesions called Kerion and hair loss at the site of the ulcers. The lesions are typically spongy with a deep centre and crusty raised outer edges.
