UNIVAC, 1962

UNIVAC 11 (Universal Automatic Computer 11), 1962. The UNIVAC was the first commercial computer made in the United States, designed by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, and built by Remington Rand. The system took up more than 350 square ft (35.5 square m) of floor space and was first contracted by the Census Bureau, the Ary Map Service, the U.S. Air Force, ACNielson Company, and Prudential Insurance Company.
