The boy weighted eight pounds. Fewer than ten hours after baby was born, I found 30-year-old Mrs. Shinwell sitting ***** in bed and receiving visitor. "I feel wonderful and walked back from the labour ward to my room as soon as my son was born," she told me. "I was conscious of what was happening, but did not feel any pain. I can remember everything perfectly. "As I had my pre-natal examinations under hypnotism I have felt no pain" at any stage at all." Proudly holding her baby, Mrs. Shinwell said the most important aspect of hypnotic birth was that the mother felt relatively fresh and relaxed after the baby was born and was not so exhausted.
